debut recording as leader with a performance at The
Velvet Note, Alpharetta, GA on April 13, 2016, 7:30pm -
one show only.
This will be a very special evening as Louis treats us
with innovative arrangements of originals and classics

TED HOWE JAZZ ORCHESTRA CD AVAILABLE
Ted Howe's inspired original music is now released on
Hot Shoe Worldwide. Featuring an 8-piece horn
section (with doubles on various clarinets and flute), a
rhythm section anchored by John Patitucci and Marlon
Patton, guitar, piano, Rhodes, and percussion, the
compositional adventure was conducted by Steve Dancz
with the composer himself overseeing all and joining the
orchestra at the piano on two pieces. Get it here:
LOUIS HERIVEAUX DEBUT RECORDING ON HOT SHOE RECORDS
Louis Heriveaux just might be the most in-demand and
recorded side artist in Atlanta who has not done his own
project. Well, that is no longer the case as Hot Shoe
Records is in production of a piano trio album
featuring some of Louis's original compositions and
several standards. Joined by jazz journeymen
Curtis Lundy on bass and Terreon Gully on drums,
this "dream team" ensemble shows they are masters of
contemporary jazz interpretation and rhythmic
exploration. Stay tuned.

Darren English has scaled new heights of
creativity in his debut recording. Only seldom do
musicians of this caliber come along and Hot Shoe
Records is very pleased to have captured the sonic
fireworks in the tracking of the upcoming CD "Imagine
Nation". Mixing is nearly completed and guest
appearances by Greg Tardy (saxophone), Carmen Bradford
(vocals), Russell Gunn (trumpet) and Joe Gransden

as gig headliner. His tone, articulation and
concept are all topflight. Tracked at the
Tracks Recording studios, the album has 6 Sandfort
originals as well as some classic songbook fare, tunes
by King Curtis and Benny Carter and another original contributed by
piano-man Michael T. Jones - a longtime friend of
John's. Also gracing the recording
are: Craig Shaw(bass), Clay Hulet(drums)
and special guest Joe Gransden(trumpet).

Lions Have Roared!
Chesarek, Will Goble, Akeem Marable, Nick Rosen
have emerged from the studio! These five young
artists (all still in their 20's) have been honing their
chops on the Atlanta scene and elsewhere over the last
several years. They have now recorded a set of originals
and standards that will enable them to take their
rightful place at the forefront of their generation. The
future of jazz is secure. More news to follow.

project is complete.
have completed the initial tracking for an album paying
tribute to the great bebop/hard bop trumpeter (and
sometimes vocalist) Kenny Dorham. This is Hot
Shoe Records' first project at
Doppler Studios and the roughs show that a
sonically excellent result is in hand. Maintaining
the Hot Shoe Records tradition of employing first-rate
sidemen are: Louis Heriveaux(piano),
Kevin Smith(bass) and Clay Hulet(drums). Stay
tuned for more news of this project in the future.

ATL Sax All-stars
Records is proud to have recorded the Atlanta
Saxophone All-stars album at Southern Tracks. The
very fortunate to have guest artist Johnny O'Neal
play piano on some of the tracks on the sessions. Side
experience at the legendary Southern Tracks studio was awesome. Hot Shoe Records is very pleased to
have pursued its mission of chronicling our excellent and
significant local jazz scene at an
outstanding Atlanta treasure. The
material includes American songbook standards, Wayne
Shorter and Herbie Hancock compositions, a late 1960's
pop song, a Sam Rivers classic and two originals by Mace

Records will be launching a new sub-label
Worldwide" with a fantastic recording by French band Djazil. Influenced by artists like Pat Metheny, Lyle
Mays, Steely Dan and others, Djazil offers a very
contemporary sound couched in classic jazz structures
including traditional improvisational solos. A unique
sound is provided by a steel drum that serves as the
band's "singer" playing beautiful melodies
on 12 original tunes. Djazil is based in Paris, France
and features the following artists:

JAZZ CAFE on Peachtree St. in Atlanta is complete and

GRANSDEN: LIVE AT CHURCHILL GROUNDS! The shows
were simply two great nights of swingin' jazz! The CD features Bill Anschell (piano),
Chris Burroughs (drums) and Craig Shaw (bass). The
audience support for Joe was fantastic as was the
support of the host venue. Hot Shoe Records thanks
Sam Yi and the staff of CHURCHILL GROUNDS for providing
the perfect setting for this ground-breaking project.
A mainstay in Atlanta, Churchill Grounds has long been
listed by Downbeat Magazine in the "International Jazz
Guide to the 100 Best Jazz Clubs". Many thanks are
also due to STEINWAY PIANO GALLERIES of Alpharetta, GA
for providing the Model B Grand played by
Bill Anschell. The project was mastered by Nathan
James in NYC.

Cafe 290 were exciting evenings of great music! The live remote
broadcasts/webcasts of the performance by 91.9FM WCLK
hosted by CARL ANTHONY were sponsored by HOT SHOE RECORDS.
Both evenings were packed and the
audience was both knowledgeable and appreciative of the swingin'

A Great Success: Joe Gransden Big Band Christmas Presented By
Hot Shoe Records!
Joe and his 16-piece Big Band with special guest
vocalist Audrey Shakir played to a packed and
appreciative house on December 13, 2008 at Spivey
www.spiveyhall.org ) . With arrangements by
Eric Alexander, Wes Funderburk and others, Joe delivered
a warm, but spirited invitation to the Yule season.
Featured instrumental solos by Sam Skelton (sax), Tyrone
Jackson (piano), Justin Varnes (drums), Mace Hibbard
(sax), Wes Funderburk (trombone), Neal Starkey (bass)
and Joe (trumpet) left no doubt about the high level of
jazz artistry that exists in the Atlanta area. Hot
Shoe Records extends special thanks to Sam Dixon,
Executive Director of Spivey Hall and the rest of the
Spivey staff for their kindness and expert handling of
Kenny G Had A Special Guest at Chastain on June 25
Joe has been
applying his unique sound to some smooth tunes in
connection with a recording produced by Kenny G and
showcasing Joe as the featured artist. Joe
recently (June 25, 2008) performed a couple
of tunes with Kenny G on the stage at Chastain Park Amphitheater
including one tune called "Malibu" that will be on the
recording. It was a special evening indeed.

Southeast Organization for Jazz Arts (SOJA)
The musicians Joe Gransden, Audrey Shakir, Tyrone

slammin' show! Hot Shoe Records is excited about
the SOJA mission and was glad to make a supporting
